Speakers: Please join us as speaker Cassandra Mercer gives a presentation on state trademark registrations.

Join the IP Section as speaker Cassandra Mercer presents on state trademarks and tips she has gathered from recent experiences ranging from new developments for filings to challenging a state trademark agency decision in Washington state court. The presentation will include when state trademark registration can be a good tool for clients, an overview of state trademark laws and differences from federal law, recent updates from Oregon and Washington, and tips for dealing with the various quirks and pitfalls that come along with state trademark filings and laws. If time allows, we will also look at California and Colorado’s state trademark regimes.

An attorney at Alleman Hall McCoy Russell & Tuttle LLP, Cassandra’s practice is focused on a variety of trademark matters, including prosecution of federal and state trademarks, administrative appeals, and prosecuting and defending inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Her experience includes protection and enforcement of trademarks in a variety of industries from fashion to software technology to the cannabis industry.
