Topic: Intellectual Property Section Annual Meeting & CLE:  Understanding the Intersection of IP Rights and Big Data.

Speaker: Please join us as we provide a summary of the Intellectual Property Section’s 2020 activities, and announce the outcome of our virtual Annual Meeting.  After section announcements, speaker Mr. Mike Labbee will give a CLE presentation on Understanding the Intersection IP Rights and Big Data.  As the era of “Big Data” emerges, collections of information generated by businesses are becoming highly valued business assets.  Mr. Labbee will discuss the current state of legal protections for databases and strategies for preserving your client’s rights to their data.

Mike Labbee is an Assistant Director in the Intel Legal Department.  He has practiced as an intellectual property lawyer for over 25 years, supporting a wide range of clients in private practice and as in-house counsel focusing at various times on patent prosecution, litigation, technology transactions and mergers and acquisitions.  Mike received his degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his JD from the Georgetown University Law Center.  Mike is a member of the Arizona, California and Oregon (in-house only) State Bars and is a Registered Patent Attorney.
