August 4, 2021 Webinar CLE: Intellectual Property in Psychedelics & Oregon’s Psilocybin Services Act (Measure 109)

Topic:  Intellectual Property in Psychedelics & Oregon’s Psilocybin Services Act (Measure 109)

Speakers: Please join us as speakers Graham Pechenik and Sean Clancy give a presentation on intellectual property in the burgeoning psychedelics industry.  Topics will include an overview of Oregon’s Psilocybin Services Act (Measure 109), the psychedelic industry “renaissance,” existing and anticipated patent issues, trademark and branding issues, and ethical questions for lawyers with psychedelic industry clients.

Graham Pechenik is a registered patent attorney, and the founder of Calyx Law. He has a JD from NYU, and a BS from UC San Diego, choosing his Cognitive Neuroscience and Biochemistry majors after his first psychedelic experiences inspired deep curiosity about the bases for changes in consciousness. After a decade representing Fortune 500 companies in the agricultural, chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech, and technology industries on their patent matters, Graham started Calyx Law in 2016 to work with cannabis and psychedelics ventures. Graham is also editor-at-large of Psilocybin Alpha, where he provides data for patent trackers and writes about IP in the psychedelics space.

Sean Clancy is a business and intellectual property lawyer at Emerge Law Group.  He was part of the small team that drafted Measure 109.  As outside IP counsel for a variety of innovative industries including state-licensed cannabis, psychedelics, entertainment media, consumer products, food & beverages, professional services, software, and new technology, Sean advises on state and federal trademark rights, copyrights, trade secrets, confidentiality issues, licensing and a wide variety of business and commercial contracts.  As business and corporate counsel, Sean negotiates, prepares legal documents, and advises on relationships spanning from entity formation and ordinary business to complex transactions and disputes.
