January 28, 2026 Webinar CLE: Discussion with the Copyright Claims Board: History and Resources of the CCB

Topic: Discussion with the Copyright Claims BoardHistory and Resources of the CCB

Since establishment in 2022, the Copyright Claims Board (CCB) has offered a voluntary, streamlined forum within the U.S. Copyright Office to handle small copyright disputes, which were previously only solvable through expensive and complex federal court litigation. Please join Monica McCabe, Copyright Claims Officer for the CCB, and Kimberly Gallego, Paralegal Specialist for the CCB, as they discuss implementation of the CASE Act, the history of the CCB over the last several years, and expectations for the future.

Speakers: Kimberly Gallego and Monica McCabe

Monica McCabe is a Copyright Claims Officer for the CCB. She previously chaired the intellectual property department at Phillips Nizer LLP. She is a veteran copyright litigator with over three decades of experience, representing both copyright users and owners. She has served on numerous mediation panels, including for the International Trademark Association, the Southern District of New York, and the New York State Supreme Court Commercial Division. She has handled a wide range of disputes in the alternative dispute resolution context, including as a special master. McCabe holds a JD from the Georgetown University Law Center, an MA from the University of Chicago, and a BA from Fordham University.

Kimberly Gallego is the Paralegal Specialist for the CCB. She joined the CCB in May 2024. Before joining the CCB, Kimberly worked as a contracted paralegal for the Board of Immigration Appeals within the Executive Office for Immigration Review. She holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University and an A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies. Outside of work, Kimberly enjoys spending quality time with her family, exploring new video games, and recently started writing children’s stories.
