Speakers: Please join us as speaker McCoy Smith gives a presentation on 10 years of decisions by the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on implied patent licensing, and what those decisions might mean for drafters of patent licenses and patent litigation settlements.
McCoy Smith is an intellectual property and business lawyer and litigator, with over 30 years of experience as a patent examiner, patent prosecutor, patent litigator, intellectual property counselor and in-house IP attorney at a Fortune 50 technology company. McCoy founded and heads Lex Pan Law in 2019 where he provides advice and counseling relating to intellectual property rights, patent prosecution and analysis, software licensing and license compliance, and mergers and acquisition negotiations and due diligence. He also founded and heads a software license compliance consulting business, Opsequio, which provides virtual or backup support for Open Source Program Offices. He is a former instructor for a major patent bar review course provider, and sits on the editorial board of Journal of Open Law, Technology & Society, an international journal dedicated to free and open licensing.
